From Shadows to Light
From Shadows to Light
A Liszt programme created in 2025—designed for recurring presentation in multiple formats: from an uninterrupted recital to a moderated lecture‑concert, lecture‑recital, workshop or seminar. Music and (when desired) short spoken frames trace a single dramaturgical journey: from dense, shadowed beginnings toward clarity, resonance and form. The spoken component is precise, accessible and free of jargon—always in service of listening.
From Shadows to Light — Liszt
A flexible programme for concert halls, academies and educational settings
Programme focus
Selected piano works by Franz Liszt are heard as one continuous arc rather than a sequence of separate pieces. Whether presented as a pure concert programme or in a guided format, the aim is the same: to make structure, transformation and musical narrative tangible—through sound.
Presentation formats
From Shadows to Light is adaptable to different venues and time‑slots (matinee, evening concert, festival slot) and can be offered in one of the following versions:
• Recital (no spoken text)
A continuous programme from beginning to end—pure listening, uninterrupted.
• Moderated concert / Lecture‑concert
Short spoken frames between works, plus one or two brief piano examples: motives, themes, transitions and how material transforms over time. A short audience Q&A can be included if desired.
• Lecture‑recital (expanded context)
A deeper, more analytical version with extended commentary and examples—ideal for conservatoires, academies and lecture series.
• Workshop / Seminar
An interactive format (for students, teachers or curious listeners) focusing on listening tools, form, harmonic tension, pianistic textures and interpretive decision‑making. This can include guided discussion and optional short participant work.
Repertoire
Works may include Ballade No. 2, Petrarch Sonnet 104, Consolation No. 3, Liebestraum No. 3, and the Sonata in B minor. The final selection and order can be tailored to the presenter, venue and format.
Languages
Moderation / lecture formats: English or German.
Contexts & presentation
Developed for recurring performances—such as concert programmes in Munich and beyond—and for educational settings such as the Bayerische Musikakademie Schloss Alteglofsheim. The programme remains adaptable for different spaces, audiences and curatorial needs.
