Non-Fungible
A recording project across Bach, Scriabin and Barber
Non-Fungible grew out of a live concert performance in Skopje in October 2021 and developed as a personal artistic continuation of Mimoza Keka’s doctoral research, which explored piano performance through digital recording and quantitative analysis.
Following the completion of her doctorate, the project brought this engagement with recorded performance back into artistic practice. In Non-Fungible, Keka appears both as the performing pianist and as pianist-producer of the recording, shaping the project from interpretation and performance through to its recorded form.
Distinct musical identities
Rather than following a single historical period or stylistic tradition, the programme brings together three distinct musical languages. The title Non-Fungible refers to the individual identity of each work: each retains its own character while contributing to a broader musical arc.
From live performance to album
The project developed into the album Non-Fungible, released in 2022. The recording brings together repertoire from three contrasting musical worlds while preserving the particular sound, structure and expressive identity of each composition.
