Biography

Mimoza Keka is a Munich-based concert pianist whose artistic work brings together interpretation, programme conception and an in-depth engagement with musical structure. Her programmes are often shaped by the idea of the piano recital as a coherent musical narrative, with particular attention to sound, transformation and the relationships between individual works within a larger dramaturgical arc.

Her repertoire ranges from the Baroque and Classical periods through Romanticism and Impressionism to twentieth-century and contemporary music. Alongside central works of the piano literature, her artistic projects frequently explore the connections between musical architecture, interpretation and the listener’s experience of a programme as a whole.

Keka completed her doctoral degree in Musical Arts at the age of 26 with the dissertation The Use of Digital Technologies in Quantitative Analysis of Piano Performance. In her research, she examined musical interpretation through parameters such as timing, dynamics, articulation and touch, combining analytical methods with the perspective of the performing musician.

Her artistic path was shaped in particular by her work with Prof. Lilya Zilberstein, under whose guidance she completed her Master of Arts degree. Further important impulses came from masterclasses at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, where she studied from 2015 to 2017.

Her concert activity has taken her across Europe and to the United States, with performances in cities including Munich, Paris, Rome, Prague, Bristol, Milan, Trieste, Siena, Istanbul and New York City. Her appearances include Schloss Nymphenburg and Herrenchiemsee in Bavaria, the Ohrid Summer Festival, Skopje Philharmonic, Siena Summer Festival, Golden Lyre Festival, Francophone Festival Soleil, Days of Macedonian Music and Autumn Musical Festivities.

As a soloist with orchestra, she has performed works including Camille Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 and Benjamin Britten’s Piano Concerto Op. 13. Her artistic work also encompasses chamber music and collaborations with singers and instrumentalists. For several years, she worked as an artistic collaborator and pianist in the Opera Studio at the Faculty of Music in Skopje, contributing to the training and artistic development of undergraduate and postgraduate vocal students.

Alongside her concert activity, Keka teaches piano in Munich, combining her experience as a performer with an individually tailored approach to pianistic and musical development.

She also develops her own concert series and artistic formats. For Schlosskonzerte Mimoza Keka and Chiemsee Insel Klassik, she shapes the artistic direction, programme conception and dramaturgical development of the concert formats.

Her projects include From Shadows to Light, a dramaturgically conceived exploration of Franz Liszt’s piano music, as well as Festive Rhapsody, A Musical Story – Johann Sebastian Bach, From Baroque to Contemporary Macedonian Composers and other solo, chamber music and interdisciplinary concert formats.

She has also been invited to serve as a jury member at piano competitions, including the Munich Piano Competition. Her artistic work brings together concert performance, music education and an ongoing engagement with questions of interpretation and programme design.

Her recording Non-Fungible, featuring works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Alexander Scriabin and Samuel Barber, was released in 2022.
